    Celebration of Light

This term the children are learning all about light, colours and patterns. They have seen and created the different sources of light, and experimented with mixing different colours together. We have explored patterns using colours and shapes, as well as completing picture sequencing. All of these activities help the children to develop their spatial awareness, laying the foundations for mathematical data handling, problem solving and critical thinking skills.

Children in all age groups have been discovering the meaning of the word “celebration” – how can we see, hear, taste and feel celebrations? How do we experience the different celebrations with our own senses? The children were also lucky enough to participate in a Diwali celebration, Thanksgiving, Räbeliechtli and learn how Christmas is celebrated around the world.

It’s been an exciting exploration of lights and colour and we look forward to our next theme “Through the looking glass”.
