During the theme “In the Garden” the kindergarten and preschool children took a trip to the local market at Bürkliplatz to find out just where all of the things growing in the garden end up. Each child brought along a few francs so they could purchase their fruit or vegetable of choice. They enjoyed their snack by the lake! In the kindergarten classroom they set up their own vegetable market stand and learned about different types of money and took turns buying and selling vegetables. The children started their own garden and learned about the life cycle of the plant. They worked on their observational skills by looking closely at the different parts of the vegetables and then created beautiful paintings of the colorful food in front of them. As a final treat they baked a rhubarb crumble!
