Our fourth Global Book Fair on 2nd October 2021 is in memory of Kishori Salter. Kishori was a free-spirited and warm-hearted young woman who loved languages and travelling, making friends wherever she went.

In 2014 Kishori came to stay with her aunt in Zurich. She worked as a volunteer in the schoolhouse office at Children First organising our first small book fair for international families.

In the summer of 2016 after a year living in France and Spain, Kishori travelled to Cuba and South America to improve her Spanish before returning for her final year of university. The day before she was due to meet a friend who was bringing extra asthma medication, 21 year-old Kishori had a fatal allergic reaction after eating out in a local restaurant. Her reaction was complicated by an asthma attack at altitude, in an under-developed part of the world.

In honour of Kishori, we are donating the proceeds of this fourth Global Book Fair on 2nd October 2021 to Room to Read, which promotes literacy projects in developing countries. One Swiss Franc buys one book for a child who is learning to read.

Kishori was a passionate reader herself, and we feel would approve heartily of our annual fair in her honour and the fantastic causes we are raising money for every year, on her behalf.
