If you are still looking for a special present for your child or a little one in your life, here are a few of our favourite ideas to spark creativity, wonder, learning, and most importantly time together!

1. Audio book: Listen to a story together on CD or download a children’s audio book. Children are more likely to sit and listen longer when mum or dad are cuddled up next to them. For older children, small headphones are also a great idea but be sure to teach them how to use them at a safe volume.

2. Glow in the dark stars: Buy your child a pack of glow in the dark stars and decorate his or her bedroom together. It creates a magical atmosphere before bed.

3. An afternoon at the ice rink: Take a trip to the ice rink with your child. In Zurich, the Dolder ice rink and the Bellevue Christmas market have plastic penguins, polar bears and seals for little ones to hold onto. It makes skating for mum or dad a bit easier too!

4. Tickets to a cultural event: The Zürcher Kammer Orchester offers great children’s concerts. After the event children can go up and try out the instruments. It is great exposing children to cultural activities at this age and fun to get dressed up for the special event if you wish. The Gruffalo will be the next English concert/story telling event and will take place on Sunday 6th May 2018 at 2pm (for children 3-5 years old). Click here to find out more:

5. Art Materials: Support your child’s self expression by giving them new funky drawing materials. There are large sized or even egg shaped crayons and chalk that fit into little hands easily. Sometimes just having some colorful paper and a new set of pencils can inspire a creative phase! Play dough is also great for fine motor skills.
